We no longer host our annual fundraiser (The Kelci Ever After Memorial 6K Run and 2K Memory Walk), but we still hold the Kelci Ever After Do Good Fund at the Luzerne Foundation. We continue to do good in Kelci's memory, and instead of the run, we often team up with other organizations to raise funds for them directly and provide matching funds. We also support and promote other runs, volunteer activities and fundraisers, and when we show up in person we do so wearing our tie-dye and peace signs as "Team Kelci". Below are some of the organizations we support through special fundraisers. Check out our Facebook Page for others.
Current Fundraisers and CollaborationsWe are currently raising funds for The Food Dignity Movement to help them purchase a reliable used box truck. With this truck they will be able to pick up over 10,000 pounds of food per trip to and from independent food banks, local farms and food rescue missions and get that food to local non-profits so they can continue to distribute food directly to the people they help at their sites.
That’s equivalent to more than 12,000 meals for local families. Partner sites include New Roots Recovery Support and the Heartwood Center that supply food in the Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton area to individuals and their families and to people experiencing or in danger of homelessness; Victims Resource Center that supports victims of sexual assault and other crimes; Westside Career Technical Center (high school students); and Fresh Food Farmacy that supplies healthy nutritious food to people diagnosed with diabetes and have lower incomes and less access to the food they need that benefits their health. Kelci loved food, and we can't think of a better way than to share that love with as many people as we can as we continue to spread her legacy if Peace and Love! Put the KEA PEACE & LOVE SIGN on the Truck. We are pledging $10,000 and will match donations up to $5000 in the FB fundraiser for the truck which will display the Kelci Ever After Logo with Peace, Love and Food when delivering all this awesome food and goodness. Our Last T-shirt Fundraiser was for the Koalas in Australia! We Helped the Koalas in Australia through a Kelci Ever After Fundraiser! Kelci Ever After product sale with Limited Edition Kelci Koala logo! In honor of Kelci's 30th Birthday (February 8, 2020), we created a special edition of Kelci Ever After t-shirt, sweatshirts, and merchandise. The image was created by the Kelci Ever After memorial fund in memory of Kelci Gibbons to help the Koalas and their habitat in Australia after the devastating fires using Kelci's Artwork. Kelci loved Koalas and gave the best Koala hugs, and for her 30th birthday, we could think of no better way to honor her. Every penny of the profits from these items went to this charity to support the Koalas (Save the Koala, direct donate button below). After the funds were sent The Australian Koala foundation planted a tree in Kelci's honor in the Quinlans – their Research Station where they plant and allow tree regrowth to occur for the Koala population. |
On July 24, 2012 our happily ever after was forever altered when our beautiful 22 year old daughter, Kelci, lost her life in a car accident. Life as we knew it ceased to exist, and now we are faced with learning how to live again without her here.
This is our Kelci Ever After. Kelci was a free spirit who loved art, music, nature and having a good time. She was usually wearing a peace sign, smiling and spreading or promoting the message of peace and love wherever her adventures took her. In 2012 when she was just 22 years young her life was cut short in a car accident, but her spirit, through us is ever present. We were given no choice in the tragedy that came to us, but we were given a choice, as is everyone, in how we choose to handle it and carry on afterwards. For us, this means doing good, being kind and giving back to the community in honor of our beautiful girl. Shortly after her death, we established the Kelci Ever After Memorial Fund (administered by the Luzerne Foundations) to do this, and we host an annual 6K Run and 2K Memory Walk to support it at Frances Slocum State Park. All proceeds earned at the annual 6K Run and 2K Memory Walk go to the fund and are then distributed to non-profit organizations. Donations are focused on things Kelci would have appreciated and enjoyed. Since its foundation we have given out numerous scholarships to High School and college students to help make things a little bit easier for them as they pursue their passions through educational opportunities. Deserving students with financial needs and big dreams have received financial help for tuition, books, dress for success and travel for service trips as they help those in need around the world. We also support other local organizations focusing on environmental issues, the arts and youth sports, things our Kelci participated in and was passionate about. With a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation we established a special project called Peace Trees for Kelci, and over 1000 trees were distributed and planted across the United States in Kelci’s memory. Our motto is “Planting trees and Growing Love for Kelci”, and this project is a perfect way to honor and memorialize our tree-hugging girl who loved nature and the great outdoors. Trees have been donated and planted in Frances Slocum State Park through the fund and we’ve made additional donations to the park for their environmental education programs. Additionally,Back Mountain Youth Soccer, the Dallas Middle School Courtyard, King’s College students, The Boys and Girls Club of Northeast PA to sponsor an Eagle program presented by the Carbon County Environmental Center, Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge and Dinners for Kids (through Misericordia University's Social Work Club) have benefited from the fund.
